Travel video about destination South-Africa. Johannesburg is the commercial centre of South Africa. Since gold was first discovered there, everything has revolved around money and from the 50th floor of Africa’s tallest building, The Carlton Towers, there is an all-engulfing view of the city’s narrow streets and jungle of concrete and glass. The African Museum is a contemporary building and one of South Africa’s most exquisite landmarks, it contains a large variety of geological exhibits and detailed accounts of the city’s past surface mining that gave rise to the country’s massive gold rush. The resistance to apartheid is also illustrated, as well as the history of Africa’s native inhabitants who journeyed from present day Botswana to the south of the country. A panel discussion at the Oxford Africa Conference 2017 with Joseph Hundah, Jono Hobbs, Seko Shamte and Ade Olufeko moderated by Jake Okechukwu Effoduh. The digital revolution has made it easier than ever before to make information, media, and entertainment meet African audiences where they are – on their cellphones, on their television screens at home, and in the internet cafes they frequent. This democratization of information and media, due to increasing internet access and high-speed streaming services, has meant that new African players have emerged and can deliver content to Africans far and wide in a way that previously only media monopolies like DSTV could. These new players are content-creators and creatives with more channels for distributing their work, advertisers who are exc...
HEART OF DARKNESS by Joseph Conrad - FULL AudioBook | Greatest Audio Books - Heart of Darkness is a novella written by Joseph Conrad. Before its 1903 publication, it appeared as a three-part series (1899) in Blackwood's Magazine. It was classified by the Modern Library website editors as one of the "100 best novels" and part of the Western canon. The story centres on Charles Marlow, who narrates most of the book. He is an Englishman who takes a foreign assignment from a Belgian trading company as a river-boat captain in Africa. Heart of Darkness exposes the dark side of European colonization while exploring the three levels of darkness that the protagonist, Marlow, encounters: the darkness of the Congo wilderness, the darkness of the Europeans' cruel treatment of the African natives, and t...
Before "dune bashing" became a thing, or deserts were mythologised as primeval, pristine landscapes, these vast expanses of sand were active sites of trade crossed by goods, people and knowledge. Come the fall of the Ottoman Empire and the rise of a new, colonial reality in Africa and the Middle East, trade routes turned seaward, and port cities became the all-powerful points of exchange. Omar Berrada reminds us about routes-gone-by and the traces they have left in contemporary societies.

The Fowleri Tang, also known as the a fowlers tang or Blackspine Surgeonfish, is one of the more beautiful saltwater fish. A blue head with characteristic arcing lines behind the eye sets this species apart from other tangs. This saltwater tang fish is a true standout. In its natural habitat, the Fowleri Tang is generally found in clear seaward reefs and drop-offs. A 360 gallon or larger established aquarium with large amounts of live rock is necessary to provide both plenty of swimming room and territories within the live rock. Although tangs will eat meaty foods along with the other fish in the aquarium, it is important that they are offered plenty of marine based seaweed and algae since they are herbivores. This will strengthen their immune system, reduce aggression and improve their ov...

Guns of Icarus Is On Sale Now (20% of sales go to charity!) - http://bit.ly/gunscharity Okay, hopefully that terrible short we filmed at 4am didn't scar any of you... most of you. First things first. What is Guns of Icarus? This is a very competitive teamwork-heavy game (and I am dead serious. Work as a team or you will lose). Players are tasked with successfully commanding a flying boat (ship?) that is mounted with machine guns. One team member pilots the ship while the rest can either specialize as an engineer (which maintains all the ships components) or a gunner (which does... you know). These ships go up against each other by attacking each others ships! Here, I'll explain what is going on in this video. A group of 16 Youtubers including myself are working with the creators of Guns...
